Joel Madden is a member of the band Good Charlotte and is the lead singer and guitarist for the band The Bouncing Souls. He is also a songwriter and producer. Joel's first solo album "Recover" was released in late 2010.

On November 22, 2012, Nicole gave birth to their son Miles Jack Madden (born April 29, 2013), who lives with his father in Los Angeles.
On January 27, 2014 it was reported that Joel had filed for divorce from Nicole Richie after having been separated since October 2013. On July 22 on his birthday he announced that Nicole had filed for divorce from him on June 20 after 13 months of separation. He posted a fake picture of her on Twitter with the caption "That's What I'm talking about."
On December 29, 2015 he married his girlfriend Mandy Capristo who he started dating in 2011.
